Arabella Mansfield
Arabella Mansfield (May 23, 1846 August 1, 1911), née Belle Aurelia Babb, became the first female lawyer in the United States when she was admitted to the Iowa bar in 1869. She was allowed to take the bar exam and passed with high scores, despite a state law restricting applicants to white males over 21. Shortly after Arabella passed the exam, Iowa amended its bar licensing statute and became the first state to allow women and minorities into its bar.

Ladora Savings Bank
The Ladora Savings Bank is a historic structure along U.S. Route 6 in Ladora, Iowa, United States. Constructed in 1920, it was closed when the bank that built it failed in the Great Depression, leaving it to be used by a succession of businesses. Today, it is occupied by a restaurant, the Ladora Bank Bistro. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since August 3, 1990.

Gruwell and Crew General Store
The Gruwell and Crew General Store is on of the oldest buildings in West Branch. Mayor S.C. Gruwell and J.C. Crew built the structure in 1894, it operated as a music store, harness shop, shoe repair shop, and as a variety store. In 1964 the West Branch Heritage Foundation converted it to a museum.

Len Jus Building (Mason City, Iowa)
The Len Jus Building on Main Street in Mason City, Iowa was constructed in 1882. It has an extremely rare sheet-metal facade, manufactured by the Mesker Brothers Iron Works. This building has been placed on the Iowa Historic Preservation Alliance’s Most Endangered list because of its poor repair and indifferent ownership.

Masonic Building (Osceola, Iowa)
The Masonic Building, also called the Burrows Block, Bank Block, and Masonic Temple stands on the public square Osceola, Iowa. It was constructed by banker A.H. Burrows in 1872. The upper stories of this Italianate building were used by Osceola Lodge No. 77 of the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, and the main floor was a bank and hardware store. This building has been placed on the Iowa Historic Preservation Alliance’s Most Endangered list because of its poor repair and lack of preservation plan.

Faeth Farmstead and Orchard District
The Faeth Farm near Fort Madison, Iowa was founded by German immigrants Jacob and Elizabeth Faeth in 1832. Mormons encamped near the farm after fleeing Nauvoo, Illinois. Adam Faeth built the existing house and barn. Herb Faeth expanded the orchard; he was close friends with the naturalist Aldo Leopold. Faeth Farm was self-supporting, sustainable farm for decades, and is believed to have the oldest orchard west of the Mississippi.

Bethel African Methodist Church (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
The Bethel African Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is one of the few surviving links to Cedar Rapid's early African American community; this neigborhood has been nearly obliteratd by development of Mercy Hospital.
