There was also a book Under the Mountain, by Margaret Robson, published in 1958. Under the Mountain was an eight-part television series based on the novel of the same name written by Maurice Gee. It was produced by Television New Zealand and first transmitted in 1981. Many of the minor roles in this series were played by people who were at the time well known performers in New Zealand. The entire series has now been released on DVD.

Te Tomairangi Marae
Te Tomairangi Marae is an Invercargill Marae on the same city block as St Josephs and St. Mary's Basilica. In late 2005, the Marae was affected by vandals who set fire to the main building. Months previously a Warehouse within a few hundred metres was also burnt. The fire consumed much of the marae. As of March 2005 the marae is currently boarded up. After being destroyed by fire twice the building reopened in 2008 with a sprinkler system installed.
