Ultraperformance Nanophotonic Intrachip Communications The Ultraperformance Nanophotonic Intrachip Communications (UNIC) program is a project of DARPA. It is dedicated to funding projects by chip makers to create nanophotonic microprocessors. On March 3, 2008, Sun Microsystems announced that it had received a USD$44.29M grant from UNIC for a "five and a half-year research project focused on microchip interconnectivity via on-chip optical networks enabled by Silicon photonics and proximity communication"; this project also involves collaboration with Luxtera, Kotura, Stanford University and the University of California, San Diego. Deep Green Deep Green is a project that ran under the Information Processing Technology Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The purpose of the project was to develop a decision-making support system for United States Army commanders. The systems developed feature advanced predictive capabilities to enable computers to efficiently and accurately predict possible future scenarios, based on an analysis of the current situation, in order to give army commanders a better view of possible outcomes for their decisions Deep_Green
Heterogeneous Aerial Reconnaissance Team aerial surveillance project funded by the Information Processing Technology Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The purpose of the program was to develop systems that could provide continuous, real-time, three-dimensional surveillance of large urbanized areas, using unmanned aerial vehicles. The project team was led by Northrop Grumman corporation, and involved several other academic and corporate researchers. Heterogeneous_Aerial_Reconnaissance_Team

Value-driven design Value-driven design is a systems engineering strategy based on microeconomics which enables multidisciplinary design optimization. Value-driven design is being developed by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, through a program commitee of government, industry and academic representatives. Value-driven_design
Handheld Isothermal Silver Standard Sensor The Handheld Isothermal Silver Standard Sensor (HISSS) project was sponsored by DARPA in the 2000s to develop a hand-held sensor that is capable of identifying biological weapon threats across the entire spectrum including bacteria, viruses and toxins. The program began in early part of the 21st century with the following goals DNA detection without polymerase chain reaction (PCR) RNA detection without PCR or reverse transcription antibody-based protein detection at sensitivities unachievable by traditional methods Handheld_Isothermal_Silver_Standard_Sensor
