| Samael Aun Weor Samael Aun Weor (March 6, 1917 – December 24, 1977), born Víctor Manuel Gómez Rodríguez, was a spiritual teacher, occultist, esotericist and author. He established himself in Mexico in the 1950s where he founded the 'International Gnostic Movement'. In his over sixty books and hundreds of held conferences, he describes a teaching called "Gnosis", the Greek word for "knowledge", from which is derived the name "Gnosticism", designating a sectarian syncretism which appeared at the beginning of the Christian Era and was considered heresy by the Church Fathers.
