Israel Anton Zoller (September 27 1881, Brody, Galicia – March 2 1956) was from 1939 to 1945 Chief Rabbi of Rome. After the war, he converted to Roman Catholicism, taking on the name Eugenio Zolli in honor of Pope Pius XII. He had kept a list of all the Jews who lived in Italy. Italian Jews were upset he had not destroyed it or hid it during the Holocaust. As such the large amount of deaths of the Italian Jews, was seen in part as a result of Zolli's negligent thinking.

The Anglican Archbishops of Canterbury and York of the Church of England responded to the papal charges with the encyclical Saepius Officio in 1897.The principal objection to Anglican orders being valid, according to Leo XIII, was the alleged deficiency of intention and of form of the Anglican ordination rites.
