Meir Wieseltier
Meir Wieseltier, Israeli poet, was born in 1941 in Moscow and migrated to Israel in 1949. He has published ten volumes of verse, and translations of William Shakespeare and Virginia Woolf.In 2000, Wieseltier received the Israel Prize, for writing and poetry.

Israeli Sign Language, or ISL, is the most commonly used sign language in the deaf community of Israel. Some other sign languages are also used in Israel, among them Al-Sayyid Bedouin Sign Language. The number of Israeli deaf people is around 10,000, though it is unclear how many of them use ISL as their main language.The history of ISL goes back to 1873 in Germany, where Marcus Reich, a German Jew, opened a special school for Jewish deaf children.

Lesser Ury
Lesser Ury (November 7, 1861 October 18, 1931) was a German Impressionist painter and printmaker.He was born Leo Lesser Ury in Birnbaum, the son of a baker whose death in 1872 was followed by the Ury family's move to Berlin. In 1878 Lesser left school to apprentice with a tradesman, and the next year he went to Düsseldorf to study painting at the Kunstakademie. Ury spent time in Brussels, Paris, Stuttgart, and other locations, before returning to Berlin in 1887.
