The N2 Gateway Occupations saw large numbers of government-built houses occupied illegally by local residents of Delft in the Western Cape during December, 2007. The houses in question were the new Breaking New Ground (BNG) houses in the Symphony section of Delft near the main road Symphony Way.

Carl Niehaus
Carl Niehaus (b. 25 December 1959) is the former spokesman for South African ruling party the African National Congress, former spokesman for Nelson Mandela, and was a political prisoner after being convicted of treason against the apartheid state. He stepped down as ANC spokesman in February 2009 after admitting to maladministration of his own finances, extensive borrowing from political contacts and possible fraud.

Billy Nair (27 November 1929-23 October 2008) was a South African politician, a member of the National Assembly, an anti-apartheid activist and a political prisoner in Robben Island.Nair is best known for being one of the famous Rivonia Trialists as well as a long-serving political prisoner on Robben Island along with Nelson Mandela in the 'B' Block for political prisoners.
