U.S. Route 89A is a north-south auxiliary U.S. highway, though its actual direction of travel is more east-west. The state of Arizona has designated this highway the Fredonia-Vermilion Cliffs Scenic Road. The highway is used to access Grand Canyon National Park and is known for the Navajo Bridge. Until 2008, the Utah portion was known as State Route 11.

Agua Fria River is a 120 mi/193 km long intermittent stream that flows generally south from 20 miles east northeast of Prescott, Arizona. Prescott draws much of its municipal water supply from the upper Agua Fria drainage . The Agua Fria runs through the Agua Fria National Monument. The river then flows through Black Canyon into Lake Pleasant, a popular recreation area near Peoria, Arizona.
