20th century history of Kosovo is filled with wars, both civil and world wars, and how they have constructed and deconstructed the county in the last one hundred years.During the Balkan Wars of 1912, most of Kosovo was taken from the Ottoman Empire by the Kingdom of Serbia while the region of Metohija (know as the Dukagjini Valley to ethnic-Albanians) was taken by the Kingdom of Montenegro.

Human rights in Transnistria
Human rights of Transnistria have been under severe criticism by several governments and international organizations. The Republic of Moldova, as well as other states and NGOs claim that the government of Transnistria is authoritarian and has a poor human rights record, and is accused of arbitrary arrest and torture. With the stated aim of wanting to rectify its human rights record and bring it in line with European standards, Transnistria in 2006 established an ombudsman office.

Werner Wnendt
Werner Wnendt was the head of OSCE mission in Kosovo. He is a German diplomat and statesman. He was responsible for reporting Kosovo developments to EU and OSCE and is considered an expert in Kosovo matters in Western Europe. His mission in Kosovo has ended in 2007. He is now back in Berlin working in the German foreign ministry as the deputy director of the department for culture and communication.

Dolidze has been advising a number of international organizations, including Human Rights Watch, Open Society Institute, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and the United Nations Development Program. She recently worked with the Russian Justice Initiative to document the human rights impact of the Russian-Georgian war in South Ossetia, Georgia.

Anna Di Lellio is a sociologist, journalist and former United Nations consultant. She has written on a number of topics relating to the United Nations' presence in Kosovo and Iraq. She graduated with a Ph.D. in Sociology from Columbia University and a Masters in Public Policy and International Affairs from New York University.She worked for the UN World Food Program as a consultant in Kosovo and East Timor during the 1999 emergencies and later in 2003 as the political advisor to the UN Kosovo Police Corps Coordinator.
