Implicit Association Test
Implicit Association Test (IAT) is an experimental method within social psychology designed to measure the strength of automatic association between mental representations of objects (concepts) in memory. The IAT requires the rapid categorization of various stimulus objects, such that easier pairings (and faster responses) are interpreted as being more strongly associated in memory than more difficult pairings (slower responses).

Gourmand syndrome
Gourmand syndrome is a rare, benign condition that sometimes occurs in people who sustain injuries to the right frontal lobe. These people develop a new, post-injury passion for gourmet food. It was first described by Regard and Landis in the journal Neurology. This often causes great financial distress, thus leading to other psychological problems.

Frank Gray (researcher)
Frank Gray was a physicist and researcher at Bell Labs who made numerous innovations in television, both mechanical and electronic, and is remembered for the Gray code. The Gray code, or reflected binary code, appearing in Gray's 1953 patent, is a binary numeral system often used in electronics, but with many applications in mathematics.

Area of a disk
area of a disk (the region inside a circle) is πr2 when the circle has radius r. Here the symbol π (Greek letter pi) denotes, as usual, the constant ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.Modern mathematics can obtain the area using the methods of integral calculus or its more sophisticated offspring, real analysis.

River crossing puzzle
river crossing puzzle is a type of transport puzzle in which the object is to carry items from one river bank to another. The difficulty of the puzzle may arise from restrictions on which or how many items can be transported at the same time, or from which or how many items may be safely left together. The setting may vary cosmetically, for example, by replacing the river by a bridge.

Cryptochrome
Cryptochromes (from the Greek κρυπτό χρώμα, hidden colour) are a class of blue light photoreceptors of plants and animals. They form a family of flavoproteins that regulate germination, elongation, photoperiodism, and other responses in higher plants. Cryptochromes are involved in the circadian rhythm of plants and animals, and in the sensing of magnetic fields in a number of species.

Spidron
This article discusses the plane geometric figure; for the science-fiction character see Spidron (character). In geometry, a spidron is a continuous flat geometric figure composed entirely of triangles, where, for every pair of joining triangles, each has a leg of the other as one of its legs, and neither has any point inside the interior of the other.

Cadmium selenide
Cadmium selenide (CdSe) is a solid, binary compound of cadmium and selenium. Common names for this compound are cadmium(II) selenide, cadmium selenide, and cadmoselite (a very rare mineral).Cadmium selenide is a semiconducting material, but has yet to find many applications in manufacturing. This material is transparent to infra-red (IR) light, and has seen limited use in windows for instruments utilizing IR light.

Marine pollution
Marine pollution occurs when harmful effects, or potentially harmful effects, can result from the entry into the ocean of chemicals, particles, industrial, agricultural and residential waste, or the spread of invasive organisms. Most sources of marine pollution are land based.

Baryon asymmetry
baryon asymmetry problem in physics refers to the apparent fact that there is an imbalance in baryonic matter and antibaryonic matter in the universe. Neither the standard model of particle physics, nor the theory of general relativity provide an obvious explanation for why this should be so; and it is a natural assumption that the universe be neutral with all conserved charges.

Ethyl nitrate
Ethyl nitrate has formula . It is used in organic synthesis and as an intermediate in the preparation of some drugs, dyes, and perfumes. Ethyl nitrate is found in the atmosphere, where it can react with other gases to form smog. Originally thought to be a pollutant, formed mainly by the combustion of fossil fuels, recent analysis of ocean water samples reveal that in places where cool water rises from the deep, the water is saturated with alkyl nitrates, likely formed by natural processes.

Daina Taimina
Daina Taimina is a Latvian mathematician at Cornell University who crochets objects to illustrate hyperbolic space. She came up with the idea in an idle moment during a camping trip in 1997, based on paper models designed by geometer William Thurston. Colleagues were intrigued that her creations embodied concepts they had been teaching for years but never actually seen. She was invited, together with her husband David Henderson, a math professor also at Cornell, to give a presentation at a Cornell workshop.

Juvenile court
A juvenile court or young offender court is a court of law having special authority to try and pass judgments for crimes committed by children or adolescents who have not attained the age of majority. In most modern legal systems, crimes committed by children and minors are treated differently and differentially regarding the same crimes committed by adults.Severe, like murder or gang-related, offenses in 44 states of the USA are treated the same as crimes committed by adults "The main difference between a juvenile court and an adult court in England is that the juvenile court has a much wider jurisdiction in terms of the offenses it can try.
