RISING STARS Keisha Wallace, a senior from Philadelphia and graduate of George Washington Carver High School for Engineering and Science, is dual majoring in Elementary and Special Education with a concentration in Education of the Deaf. After completing her student teaching in the fall and graduating, she plans to enroll in BU's master's program in Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing with an career goal of teaching the deaf. A Board of Governors scholar admitted to BU in the Act 101/EOP program, she chose Bloomsburg because of its reputation in deaf education, the campus and it was close to home. Keisha has been a member of the Gospel Choir, a member of the Chi Alpha Epsilon honor society, served as an advocate counselor for the Women's Center and a Compeer Counselor, assisting mentally disabled individuals. She especially would like to do her student teaching in a juvenile detention center. When asked about her motivation, she replies, 'I like to be unique.'
